City Jönköping (Sweden)

Jönköping is a city in southern Sweden in the historical region of Småland. Located in the southern part of Lake Vättern and is the capital of the same name Lena. Jonkoping is the ninth largest city in the country with beautiful nature and beaches (which is rare for such a northern state), which is located between the three largest cities Sweden – Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmo.

Geography and climate

Jönköping is located in southern Sweden along the Nissan and Lagan rivers on the shore of Lake Vättern amid hilly forests and marshes. AT There are also two small reservoirs in the city center: Munksjön (lake Monk) and Rocksjön (Lake Roca). Climate is temperate with cool in summer and fairly mild in winter.

Story

Jönköping is an old shopping center located on road junction between the historic regions of Gotaland and Svenland. He received city rights in 1284 and is one of the oldest cities in Sweden. Favorable location (near convenient water bullets and roads) didn’t always bring dividends to Jönköping. So in the 16th and 17th centuries, it was repeatedly looted and burned by the Danes. Today Jönköping is an important logistic center in Scandinavia, which are warehouses IKEA, Electrolux, Husqvarna.

Match Museum Match Museum
