Castle Vranov nad Diey (Czech Republic)
Vranov nad Dieja – an ancient royal castle located on south of the Czech Republic near the town of Znojmo. It stands on a high cliff above Dyje river surrounded by dense forests.
The first written mention of the castle dates back to the 11th century. Up to 14 century castle belonged to the Czech crown, was made in the style of Gothic and guarded the southern borders of the Czech kingdom. In 1323 the castle moved into private ownership. In its history, changed several owners. The modern baroque appearance has found in the 17th century after a strong fire in 1655.
