Греческая федерация лёгкой атлетики совместно с муниципалитетомAthens announced the start of registration for participation in Athens half marathon. The annual race will take place on March 20th. Overall the length of the path, which will run athletes, exceeds 20 km The route of the participants will be laid through the most historically significant areas of the Greek capital.
Additionally, the half marathon includes a 5 km and 3 km race in which families and young people will take part runners For participants with disabilities and Paralympians developed a special 1-kilometer route.
This year, the organizers expect an increase in interest in half marathon. The race in Athens will unite more than 20,000 participants. The organizing committee said: “The ultimate goal events – the transformation of the Athenian half marathon into a unique sporting event. The race will perform entertainment and cultural function, will bring together participants of different generations. ”
Another half marathon task is to draw attention to Athens as to direction for a short spring trip. Insofar as sporting event falls on sunday, participants and fans will be able to find time to get acquainted with the history, culinary traditions and the way of life of Athens.
