The date of construction is considered to be 1416, the year the monks of the island were hiding from the Turkish invaders. AT those days the church became a haven for monks and hermitages.
This hidden from the tourist trails and not very famous Greece’s “pearl” has a unique location from where spectacular views of the sea and the island of Limnos.
The best time to visit is in the evening when the church illuminated by natural light.
Getting to this little church is not so easy: you will need 20 minutes of easy walk on the rock and climbing stairs, but landscapes, breathtaking, really worth the effort.
