As reported in the ERA, in 2015 on Naxos is expected the arrival of the commission from Germany, which will monitor the progress the construction of new walking routes on the island.
The European Walking Association (ERA) was founded in Germany and currently includes 50 organizations of 26 European countries. In total, the associations consist over 5 million people.
Today, Naxos has 16 walking routes. These routes allow not only to enjoy the beauty of island nature, but also They are of cultural and historical interest.
A walking tour of Naxos gives you the opportunity to explore the ancient monument and medieval towers, visit monasteries and churches, and also get to know the traditional way of life of local residents.
Today, more than 50% of hiking trails are equipped appropriate road signs.
Hiking trips in Greece are not only popular in Naxos. The islands of Andros, Tinos, Amorgos, Folegandros and Donous are entangled many interesting routes. Even in Ios and Santorini there is several hiking trails.
In total, about 600 km of hiking trails on 20 of the 24 islands Cycladic archipelago were defined as routes representing cultural interest.
