Музей кикладского искусства в Афинах в 2016 годуcelebrates the 30th anniversary of the opening day. In honor of an important event A new exhibition will open on December 3 – the Cycladic Society 5000 years ago. You can see the exhibition until March 30, 2017 of the year.
A fascinating exhibition will help find answers to a lot of questions about Cycladic civilization: what was the nature of the archipelago 5000 years back how society was organized, how the locals fed and what crafts they owned, how they had fun and danced, and also what religious beliefs adhered to?
Since no written documents about the early period Cycladic civilization has not survived, the exhibition organizers fill in the gap and in an accessible form try to convey the facts about life and activities of people of that period. Visitors will see more 200 ancient artifacts from the collections of the Museum of Cycladic Art, National Archaeological Museum, Archaeological Museums Naxos, Syros and Paros.
Most of the collection will consist of simple Cycladic forms. figurines – a recognizable symbol of the archipelago. In the XX century, they became famous due to the similarity with the objects of abstract art. Exhibition divided into 5 thematic areas: Social Core, Activity, Social Life, Social Hierarchy, Life and Death: Beliefs and cults.
