Fans of modern art will be able to contemplate favorite works in the Goulandris Museum.
AT February 2017, it will open in the center of the district of Pagrati, which located in the southeast of Athens.
The museum is located in a renovated mansion of the early XX century. on the street of Eratosthenes. The project is funded by the famous fund shipowner Vasilisa Goulandris and his wife Eliza. Tourists will receive an opportunity to see works of contemporary art XIX-XX centuries. Including works by Picasso, Chagall, Klee, Kandinsky, Rodin, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Monet, Miro, Giacometti – and this is only half of the legendary collection of the Goulandris family. Along with the work world famous masters visitors will be able to get acquainted with works of outstanding Greek artists, including Fassianos, Gunáropoulos, Cunellis and Zongolopoulos.
According to the project of architects, the museum will include five floors. In addition to the main exposition, they will be placed on them shop, library, children’s workshop, auditorium for 190 places, a garden and a cafe on the roof overlooking the Acropolis. The museum will work in accordance with the standards of the Museum of Modern Art, founded in 1979 on the island of Andros – the birthplace Goulandris The organization of temporary exhibitions is planned.
