Beaches in Greece have lost the award “Blue flag”

The strict rules of the “Blue Flag” imposed on beaches and marinas for environmental performance, led to the fact that Greece immediately lost 38 awards.

Recall that a similar situation occurred last year, when 19 beaches remained in Greece without the Blue Flag. Some weeks ago the island of Zakynthos lost all 18 recognized awards for quality and purity of the coast.

Among them is Myrtos beach, which, according to many, is considered The most beautiful beach in Kefalonia. But, unfortunately, last summer the beach has lost this prestigious award.

As stated in the Greek Conservation Society, if the beach is not will be aligned to environmental regulations dictated by rules, by the end of the tourist season these beaches will not be able to become candidates for the Blue Flag in 2019.

  • Ayios Giorgios, Santorini
  • Kamari 1 and 2, Santorini
  • Perivolos, Santorini
  • Perisa, Santorini
  • – and a few more beaches in other parts of Greece.
