Quite unexpectedly, during the absorption of the next portion of soup Tom Kha, I decided to write how we cook it here. The easiest recipe for soup Tom Kha
Tom’s Roi Thai teabags are bought at any supermarket Kha. They are of two types: 250 ml and 500 ml. Second one Naturally, it turns out cheaper. You will also need to buy more coconut milk, it is sold generally everywhere, even in minimarkets 7-11.

Actually, these same bags of Roi Thai already have ready-made soup, but they are “empty”, without vegetables, shrimp and meat. Most often in a cafe Tom Kha Guy (with chicken) is sold, but we usually prefer, or just vegetable, or tom kha kung (with shrimp).
I also want to explain why add coconut milk, if in Roi Thai it seems to be as it is, the soups are ready. The fact is that The very first Tom Kha, which I tried, left indelible impressions and remembered as the ideal soup. So in it was quite a lot of coconut milk, so for me in some cafes Tom Kha seems to be diluted, what can we say about Roi Thai. Try, much more saturated taste is obtained.
This time there were no big packages at Tops Market and I bought small 250 ml. Further, it is still easier. Cut vegetables and cook them. What kind of vegetables? Yes, any: carrots, onions, cauliflower, zucchini, any greens, potatoes. Essentially everything that is cooked for ordinary Russian vegetable soup and what is in the fridge. Can stock up onions with carrots, but we are usually lazy, taste and so enough.
Pour into the pan the contents of all 4 packets (3 Roi Thai + 1 coconut milk), add the vegetables cooked before (here as loves, thicker or thinner), bring to a boil and that’s it! Tom Kha Soup ready! You can also leave here another boiled chicken or shrimp. Shrimp, by the way, you can cook right there, they just need 1-2 minutes to boil.

Traditionally, all Thai soups are eaten with rice. We do that too. Never felt special love for him, but either in Thailand rice another, or something else, but now I want it all the time. But in general Rice is needed to seize the sharpness, really helps.
Why do I add pepper? Because in my opinion Roi Thai, diluted with vegetables and coconut milk is not at all spicy, more if you eat it with rice. But it’s all an amateur.
750 ml of Roi Thai + 250 ml of coconut milk + vegetables = enough for us 3-4 normal servings. It turns out cheaper than in a cafe and much satisfying, because in Thai soups usually, except for “some water” and shrimp / meat, there is nothing, saves only a plate of boiled rice in addition.
P.S. Yes, I almost forgot, this recipe budget is obtained only in Thailand. In Russia, Roi Thai bags are more expensive. WITH the other hand, and there is no choice, in Thai cafes in Moscow prices are still above.
