Sovinets Castle
Sovinets – a medieval castle located in a picturesque countryside in the Czech Republic on a rocky cliff in a small settlement of the same name 30-40 km from Olomouc. Its origins go back to first half of the 14th century. Currently Sovinets represents a unique example of military-technical architecture in the style baroque. Despite the fires and the destruction of the castle gradually restore, and the Sovinec is a cultural monument Czech Republic.

View to Sovinets castle
The castle was built by two brothers from the family of Sovinets, who were natives of the Moravian nobility in 1332. For several centuries it was the main residence of this family until in 1632 was sold to the Teutonic Order. During the Thirty Years War Sovinets was taken by the Swedes. But it was later restored.
The castle belonged to the Teutonic Order until the 20th century. During the second World War I housed a prison for French officers. In 1945, was severely damaged by fire. Recovery still going on.
