In one of my visits to the Czech Republic, I visited the city of Liberec, which is located northeast of Prague. Go there by car or a bus of about an hour in total, so it is quite possible from Prague go for a couple of days. Impressions of the city of Liberec
Liberec is a small city, only 100 thousand people. But in the Czech Republic with its scale, it is the 6th in size. It is difficult for me to compare it with other cities since I was only in Prague, Brno, and a couple of very small towns. Me personally Liberec liked, beautiful and cozy. It does not feel that he is a tourist, although travelers are there, of course, there is simply no mass tourist and crowds in general. Even on the eve of Christmas was not a flea market on the main square, as it was in that same Prague.
But speaking of pleasant impressions, I can only say so downtown. It is as it should be in the old city. the usual understanding of the tourist: the narrow cobbled streets, the town hall neo-renaissance, catholic cathedral, cafe in the basement with high arches, sloping roofs. By the way, the center can be bypassed for half an hour, an hour, and even faster, if not combing every street.

But the outskirts are so-so, and there is nothing to do there. Reminds a little private sector of small Russian cities. Conventional single story buildings with roads in between. Of course, there are residential high-rise at home, But in general, the city is quite low. Perhaps if I was in the warm season, the outskirts would leave It would be a more pleasant impression, but in the winter there is somehow completely depressing. No, I did not specifically go to watch them and did not look out for despondency. Just when you go by tram (the main transport in the city) to the funicular of Mount Eshted, you are driving through the whole of Liberec, it’s difficult miss. Although again, perhaps this is just my impression. For example, if you go to the side of the botanical garden and the zoo, which are also on the outskirts, but on the other hand, there are houses, on the contrary, decent ones are like mansions.
