On the issue of independent travel and all sorts of different excuses. While we were wintering in Thailand, my mother had been reading articles on our blog and came to visit us, independently, opening for yourself a wonderful world of travel without travel agencies. Sure that There are enough impressions now for a long time. However, read for yourself.
We were there only two weeks, and the feeling that a lifetime have lived. And I said it is not a word of mouth. We went Generally on a visit to Oleg and Dasha in Chiang Mai, because they have not seen November 2010 and I already missed them a lot. Therefore tried to be with them and communicate to the maximum. I think our arrival to them was also a joy and went on advantage, because together we looked, learned and traveled a lot of interesting places. If a just to list, you’ll have a decent list. So what remember the most?
Of course the city itself is noisy, bright with many temples of modern and the ancient, flowering trees and garlands of electrical wires, always smiling Thais and an abundance of food in the street, smells and aromas spices, completely modern residential buildings and shacks of reeds or carton packaging. I was surprised that in our condo they changed each day bed linen and towel. Surprised street filters for purification of drinking water and the price of such water per liter -1 baht. Surprised tradition to take off shoes not only at the entrance to the temple, but also in the condo, in massage parlor, etc. We were pleased with low prices for almost everything.
Of course Thai massage tried to do every day, at a price then 140-150 baht per hour. Finally experienced on themselves what is fish therapy. Rejoiced as children and sensations and prices, 1 procedure – 200 baht
I just fell in love with Thai food. Now my favorite food is rice and rice noodles with various fillings. I will experiment at home. I can not say about shopping, because it is impossible to keep from purchases when you see things from 100% – cotton and natural silk at “ridiculous” prices. One suitcase of course was not enough.
Fruits! It is something! We tried everything that was sold on the market. Every morning they started with amber mango and ripe orange papaya. A still pomelo, pineapple, watermelon, cantaloupe, small bananas and every other exotic, which already my stomach could not stand a couple of times. But pass past the stalls with already peeled and chopped fruit throughout the city it was impossible. But the load was not only on the stomach.
All modes of transport that exist in Tae, we tried on yourself: a local flight plane, a night train with seated carriages, bus, Santeo, tuk-tuki and even a bike, while only in quality passengers. We were surprised by cars (already in Bangkok) of all colors of the rainbow: pink, crimson, purple, blue, light green, yellow …
Well, of course, the strongest impressions (back to the beginning) from nature, from history, culture, religion (Buddhism). In a nutshell and you will not tell. Trips to Pai and surroundings to waterfalls, canyon, swimming in a hot spring, riding on elephants … From all this, the spirit captures. And Buddhist temples are something fabulous, magical, fantastic beauty. And all this beauty is carefully preserved. over the centuries. And the feeling that you are welcome everywhere, regardless of faith, smiling and ready to communicate in any way: on good and bad English, and “on the fingers,” and just mimics will make it clear that you happy and ready to help. There is a feeling of inner joy from living here and now, peace of mind. It becomes light on the soul. I am writing now, but the words still do not completely convey the state the soul.
Well, to the question: why do people travel? In my case there is the exact answer is: in traveling I know myself. At least after trips to Thailand (and I’m still traveling a lot) self-esteem has grown, and it is very nice. I understand that travel alone around the world, without touring agencies, much more interesting and most importantly not scary. And I did it, with with the help of Oleg and Dasha !!! I wonder myself! Now I have new goal: you need to learn thoroughly english for new independent travel. It’s great when there is a goal at 20 and at 30, and at 50!
