The Magic Garden on Samui – Buddha and Bungalows mysterious forest

My visit to the Magic Garden stretched out twice. For the first time I was there in the city alone and almost in the dark. We are under the closure left Paradise Park and I decided to drop by a look that this is a magic garden like that. Jungle, enveloped in lianami structure mossy figures, not a soul around, strange sounds, it all created special atmosphere of unknown, as in the films about the lost world. No wonder that the common people call this place the Mysterious Buddha Garden.

Since I had a camera when I first visited, I had to to go a second time, and in the light of day I wanted to see everything. True, and now not very lucky, because it was pouring like a bucket. But in This day I combined the trip with the extension of the visa to Immigration, for in same direction to go.

What is this garden? This is a ravine, in the valley of which flows mountain stream. And once upon a time, a certain owner of a durian plantation I decided in my old age (at 77!) to master a new occupation – stone figures. And what happened to him, we can just see now. The ravine is small, but almost every square meter his creative hand was attached. 14 years he studied favorite deed, so much so that nobody knew about it. And after his death, his descendants found a ravine and opened access to everyone for a symbolic fee. Not a bad business, he left a legacy.

It was a popular version on the Internet, and how it really was history is silent. It is believed that the park did not one person, but somewhat since the old man alone could not physically cope with heavy sand concrete.

Storylines are unknown to me, so I just went and looked figures of people, deities, animals, birds. There is even a mushroom and ancient person. I assume that parts of the figures no longer exist, because time is inexorable. I do not know whether they plan to restore something, but come across fragments of figures.

The two-story concrete fits very well into this landscape. houses built for the type of tired travelers who came here. True, they were almost swallowed up by vines and other vegetation, but this, on the contrary adds a certain mystery. Of course, this garden is not as colorful as the Buddha Sala Park. Keoku or the Temple of Hell and Paradise, and for a quick look at this the sights of koh samui is enough and 20 minutes. But look at this one. object on the other hand. Once it was just the mainstream ordinary river, and here again, after a certain number of years, we see the whole park. I can not imagine what work was invested, even if did a team of workers, and not one person. Sight practically from scratch, and so well fit into the local landscape.

In a small niche there is a figure of the author of the park, so he himself perpetuated.

How to get there and how much it costs

Entrance is 80 baht per person, children are free.

Near the entrance there is a souvenir shop and a small shop. The magic garden is open from morning until dark. Actually, caretakers live close by, you can ask them to open and in the evening (I did so in first time).

Getting here is easier on your own transport: a rented scooter or car. But you can order a transfer in advance, or take pickup in place, which stand on the road for those who came on foot.

The magic garden is practically in the center of the island, so to settle next is hardly worth it. But if necessary, search Hotels nearby (and not only) by using RoomGuru. You can still see us personally compiled a catalog of houses on Samui and A detailed review of the best hotels in Samui.

To the Magic Garden from the roundabout leads two roads. One is more convenient ride if you are driving with Lamai / Chaweng, on the other, if you are traveling with side of bang po / nathon. But I would advise to go for the one that is closer to Nathon, there is better coverage, turns at least, and in general, how can I it seems to be easier to reach, more understandable. Just drive up, without turning anywhere. When you take a turn at Paradise Park (pointer will be), then after a few hundred meters the main road will turn sharply to the left (at 90 degrees). Here in the place of this very turn, there will be a small asphalt path to the right (wide one lane), on it and you need to go further. Somewhere meters across The 500 will be a pointer and a turn for the Magic Garden.
