What do you associate with the Black Sea coast? I have – rocky beaches, mountains and rocky shores, pizza trees and crowds sunbathing people. When we arrived on the Taman Peninsula, not I would say that I expected to see something familiar to my view, or on the contrary unusual, I somehow did not even think about it. Still in Krasnodar region I have already been so many times. But what us opened during the trip along the coastline from Cape Tuzla to Cape Panagia, difficult to convey in words. Honest i’m not He imagined that landscapes in Taman might be like this— space—
The route of our trip and its concept can be seen here: We participate in the project “Russia for 365 days”

Taman Peninsula
And nobody around
The first thing that came to mind at that moment was the steppes of Kazakhstan, in which I have never been. At the same time, these “Kazakh” steppes are also They turned out to be bordering on some kind of sea. Who was in Kazakhstan, tell me, it seems? It is likely played a big role the month in which we were here (September). If someone was on the Taman peninsula at the beginning of summer, it would also be interesting to compare. Steep banks, but some earthen and constantly flat yellow fields crumbling into the sea, separated by small hills and beams, dull gray clay from the sea and … no one around. No soul and silence at all –
The last stronghold of civilization near Cape Tuzla
Deserted crumbling shore
Earthen coasts
And only ships are reminiscent of civilization.
What is not a Martian surface?
Road, sea, steppe
Steppes of the Taman Peninsula
Falling shores
Approaching Cape Panagia
A refinery station can be seen in the distance.
The sea is black from clay
Taman Gray Sea
For a couple of hours from civilization, we met only the left someone white BMW and the remains of a burned-down car on an abandoned plot of land. It’s as if the aliens were all kidnapped, or all extinct from swine flu. Had these autumn yellow colors add a little red, then right Martian landscapes, obviously not our planet. We would have spacesuits for greater persuasiveness. The feeling of unreality did not leave us for a minute. Still I remember these places, do not let go. And why people do not go there relax? Or is it because there is no season? Few kilometers deserted beaches – the most for a wild rest in silence and alone with yourself. Although, of course, if we are talking about a beach holiday, then the sea is completely different here.
Landscapes of the Taman Peninsula
Personally, I am very reminded of the cosmic landscape.
Abandoned burnt trailer

Active toilet
The roads in the dry are good
But fall into the sea sometimes
Fresh lake on the way

Artillery fort
The apogee of our space travel was finding abandoned military base. Fantasy could still draw a lot but we just returned to reality and polazili on long corridors, rooms and bunkers, which, incidentally, are underground. There was a feeling that all this is not just abandoned, but also repeatedly blown up. Later I read that it was the ruins of an artillery fort. In 1943-1944 there was a battery number 743 and defended Kerch coast from fascist invaders.

The main and visible part is pillboxes.
The fort is big enough
Not for nothing so the area looks next to the fort
Straight Stonehenge
Dots can be seen here and there.
Partially bombarded outlet
Birds nestled in ruins
We were thrown into the well and do not want to get
I leave the teleporter

Climbed into the bunker
Small embrasures, once glazed
This is what freedom looks like.
Remains of artillery fort
From the broken wall you can see the sea
Long corridors all in the inscriptions
I don’t know how much more the fort will stand there since it’s already practically on a precipice, and is about to fall into the sea. However, this The problem is relevant in general for the entire Taman Peninsula, since each year about a meter of shore is eaten by the sea. Especially it worries archaeologists, since not so long ago the remains were discovered ancient settlement (3 thousand BC) near the village Veselovka, and they will soon go under water, as happened with a Greek city Korokondamma a couple of thousand years ago.
So for lovers of ruins and unique landscapes I recommend think about the rest on the Taman Peninsula now, but it’s not enough Do not you, the sea is not joking.
How to get
The easiest way to get there is by car, because it’s far away. Go constantly along the coast from Cape Tuzla to Cape Panagia to the south-east. The easiest way to start is from Taman and then either on the map or on or on the navigator.
