Khan Lake – 10 thousand hectares of desert land

Recently, I wrote about the outskirts of the Yasenskaya crossing, about those places where we hung on our way to Khan Lake. Still I can not move away from those beauties. Today I continue the story.

Khan Lake

Khan Lake is a completely dry in September ground area with cracked earth and small plants (possibly stonecrop). Its size is 7 to 19 kilometers. And the name is received, thanks to some kind of Crimean Khan, who bathed in he was younger (legend so).

Judging by the stories of other people, the lake feeds exclusively precipitation and waters of the Azov Sea and the Beysuga Estuary, crossing in windy weather through a narrow strip of land – pour. It is likely that at these moments the land in the Khan Lake becomes softer, water appears on the surface, and you can safely get bogged down by car. At the time we were there, the land was firmer nowhere, and our driver could not resist and turned a couple pirouettes, portraying dashing rider.

By the way, the mud from this lake is considered healing (does it happen otherwise?) and is used in Yeisk sanatoriums. And once upon a time here even table salt was mined, which is strange, since we even peel Salt not seen.

The shore of Lake Khan and the immediate surroundings are reminded in some places. African savannah. If you forget a little, it starts to seem that now a herd of elephants will run, a giraffe will stick its head out nearest bush, and is about to appear aborigine with a spear in search of mining.

We approached the Khan Lake from the Beysugsky estuary, along the the road from the Yasensky ferry. It may well be that it is in these places there is no water, as according to data from the Internet, the depth in the lake can reach as much as 80 cm. Although according to other data the lake is on the verge extinction. But at least I saw the photos myself, where the people are jeeps cut through the surface, and then stuck and very long pulled the car out of viscous captivity. So after the rain or in spring, it’s probably not safe to drive on the surface.

Watermelon

After Khan Lake, we went to the Taman Peninsula, but not drove to him and spent the night somewhere in the night. In the morning we learned that we stand near the watermelon field. Since mom taught me what to steal this is bad, then I just went to photograph them. After 5 minutes the watchman, surprised by my actions, gave me a huge watermelon. According to him, I am the first to come here for a photo shoot :) The fruit, by the way, was excellent.
