Divnogorie in the Voronezh region – cave temple and expanses of the steppes

How long have I wanted to get to Divnogorie, and this is finally come true! I remember drove by 2 times and everything did not have time to call in Therefore, in the last trip I originally laid in the route this point, and what is now incredibly happy. We still got there in a wonderful time when the heat was already asleep, and it had just begun autumn. Yellow expanses of the steppes – this is something! However, I think, with the top of the plateau from the chalk divas any time a beautiful view opens up. I wonder how it looks in winter.

Divnogorie

Museum Reserve Divnogorie

I can’t say that there is a “spectacle” in Divnogorie, although among the cave objects it is the most popular and famous. Still, for many the place does not seem super interesting. In my case, if I’m going look at something not for the sake of the blog, but by mood, I’m there very much like. So it was this time. It has long been not selected from the city left the bad weather in Moscow, and arrived in the summer and the nature, arrived at the moment when we needed it. But okay, we omit these moments, I will tell you what good is in Divnogorie. Essentially this chalky divas, cave temple, canyon and steppe around. The best thing take along the desire to take a walk so that the trip makes sense.

Upon arrival, we specifically bought a tour to get to cave temple that is hollowed out inside the chalk divas (place called Big Diva). The tour starts almost from parking. You need to climb the high stairs to the temple and intermediate site. The pilgrims in the temple are definitely worth visiting, Hear the story about the Sicilian icon of the Mother of God (now there copy) and how it saved many people in the 19th century from cholera. Inside there is even an underground religious procession! And the church itself, though not belongs to the ROC, and the Museum-Reserve, but still it holds service a couple of times a year.

We looked at the temple as idle tourists, we were interesting construction in itself. You don’t meet the temple every day, hollowed out in the chalky remains of a bizarre form, and even in two floor size. By the way, Big Divas reminded me of something Cappadocia, only the scale is different. They say before the remnants was much more, but thanks to the builders of the railway.

After visiting the temple you need to climb even higher on the hill, where views of the surroundings. Upstairs on the plateau is Mayatskaya fortress (Mayatsky archaeological complex), or rather only a rampart overgrown with grass. You need to strain very much fantasy to imagine what was here before. On this spot tour ends. But we went further to the fields. Not right away however, first settled in the hotel, and then closer to sunset are back again. We walked in the city alone and, believe me, there is something! And what a beautiful canyon there is – It’s a pity the photo is not at all convey a variety of colors. I recommend to get to it. Somewhere in 40-60 minutes, you can do pass the temple-fortress-canyon and go back to the parking, both in the same way and on the dirt road, closing the circle.

I really don’t turned out, left a tripod at home, but on the new camera there is no way I will not put an application for shooting longer than 30 seconds

Information to visit

Cost and other nuances

Hotel in Divnogorie one, read the link post about it.

The visit to the reserve is free at any time, even at night (and There is something in it). But if you want to take a tour, they strictly every 2 hours, starting at 10 am and last at 4 pm The cost of the tour is 250 rubles per person, small children are free. Actually, it would be possible not to take a tour, but without it get to the cave temple. It’s also interesting to hear that will tell the guide.

Carriage to take with you on a tour is not worth it, you have to drag it up the high stairs. But if you then continue the path to canyon, then there it is possible with a stroller. Only the road is rough, a better stroller with bigger wheels.

No problems with parking. Stay at the checkout, buy ticket and, or near it, you can leave the car, or drive 100 meters and get up at the very end of the parking lot, there is closest to the beginning of the route.

How to get there by car

In no case should not go, as suggested Yandex Navigator. And it may well be that other navigators too are lying Apparently one of the roads in the maps is designated as the best, and in fact, she’s killed, so many who travel to Divnogorie, He sweats it out (a few such people were on the excursion). I I looked at the map beforehand and immediately figured out how best to go.

So, we turn from M4 to Liski, here the navigator is all right shows. But then we go through Kovalevo (Kolomytsevo-Popasnoe-Pukhovo-Kovalevo), because Yandex offered I go at all wrong. Or if you go from Voronezh through Ostrogozhsk, then we must go in the same way through Kovalevo, and not through Kortoyak or Dolzhik-Krynitsa on dirt roads.
