Cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov in Novorossiysk – soon will become history

The ship-museum “Mikhail Kutuzov” is moored at the central Novorossiysk Embankment, near the Marine Station. Its length is 210 meters, width – 22 meters, and the thickness of the armor – 100 mm. Height between the highest and lowest points of the ship, the mast and keel are 59 meters. Experts cruiser recognized as one of the masterpieces of world shipbuilding, and unesco has cataloged it as a ship representing historical value.

Sounds impressive right? But in fact — the ship represents a sad sight, especially as a museum, at such a pace will become more like an abandoned pile of scrap metal than a museum. Yes, not all tourists will agree with me, and positive reviews too. still full, but the impression is entirely dependent on your expectations and fantasy.

Impressions of visiting the cruiser Mikhail Kutuzov

As a landmark, I liked the object. After all, in the district there is nothing of the kind, and I was on a ship only once in my life and it was not even a ship, but a submarine in Kaliningrad. To me, however, it was very interesting to climb the ladder and look inside— But there’s almost nothing inside! Imagine the building an ordinary museum from which all the exhibits were carried. Interesting? If a some unusual building, but in this case the cruiser was for me unusual, it is interesting, but I want to look at the same life teams ranging from a commander to simple sailors. And in the normal condition was only the mess room, the rest of the premises empty. Moreover, literally several rooms are open and there is access only two decks. You walk through the corridors and solid closed doors— Perhaps it would be more interesting with a guide (when I came, the group didn’t make it) be content with words, since there are no exhibits.

It seems to me that one could make a candy out of this cruiser. It’s not difficult to return some personal items to the premises, even it will be some styling, give access to the kitchen (there was window only open), in the engine room, in the wheelhouse. It is clear that all this requires funding, which is not. And the problem it seems that no one needs museums in the country. In general, I was interesting to see, but I saw only part of what I wanted would. Therefore, I can recommend for viewing, but do not build too high expectations. And so yes the size is amazing! This is such a colossus. awesome ..

On the nose of the ship fluttering Andreyevsky Huys

UPDATE. A few people wrote to me here that it was not a flag, but a Huys fluttering, but no one explained that yes how, except that Huys hanging on the nose of the ship. So I figured out why on the Internet Many say that the flag hangs on the Kutuzov cruiser. St. Andrew’s flag is a white cloth with a blue diagonal cross, guys same red cloth with the same blue cross and white cross (as in my photo). But one time the red paint burned out. and in this way the flag of St. Andrew hung on the nose (although in the past it was gueis). When I visited the cruiser, the old Guyz was already replaced by new, and now it looks like it should.
