Arboretum is one of the main attractions of Sochi and its business card. It grows about 2000 exotic and rare plants brought from different parts of the world, collected unique collection of subtropical flora and fauna. Besides diverse vegetation on the territory of the arboretum can be seen rare animals and birds.
The first time I came to this arboretum was about 10 years ago, but then it seemed to me too crowded and somehow faded, faded. It is not surprising, it was the peak season of August, the heat It was terrible. And he made a completely different impression in October my last trip to Sochi.

Cableway and observation deck
Unfortunately, I did not calculate the time and came a couple of hours before the darkness. Still, if there is a desire to get around, as much as possible, or easy to walk, it makes sense to lay 3 hours, after all arboretum large. So I ran straight from the ticket office to the cable car. road (ticket at the entrance to the park, and the cable car stop in 5 minutes walk), trying to catch the last departure of the trailer.
By the way, the option of visiting the arboretum, starting with the cable car roads, very convenient, as the park is located on a mountain slope. Up you climb the cable car, admire the views of Sochi from the observation pad, and then legs go down through the arboretum to starting point. In general, I recommend to do just that.

Cable car leads to the top at the very end of the park
The cable car does not bring to the viewing platform itself, but to several floors below. Given that there are no pointers, and almost everything coming out of the car, they rushed down immediately, it seems that not everyone knows that you can climb a couple of floors up, where will the views of Sochi and, in fact, on the arboretum itself.

Impressions of the arboretum in Sochi
As you already understood, I liked it. I generally like corners of nature in cities – squares, forest parks, arboretums. Especially when it’s not just a park, but it’s just so refined with ladders, strange plants, fountains, and more. Of course, sometimes you want to go for a walk in the forest to be away from civilization, but the Sochi Arboretum represents a certain balance, you forget about the city here, especially if you bore in far part of the park.

Отдельно упомяну “Japanese garden” . Metasekvoi with their orange struck me with needles on lush green grass, very beautifully. It happens, I see some small corners of nature, even man-made, which I would like to embody in his own house. They look so organic – I want to stop here, relax, sit and think about life, or just relax. If you are prone to such moods, then lay more time to visit, otherwise you have to run like me.

History reference
The history of the Sochi Arboretum, which is now declared a monument landscape art began in 1889 when S.N., collector, playwright and publisher of Peterburgskaya Gazeta Khudekov bought 50 acres of land on the slope of Lysa Hora in Sochi.
